AI Notes Templates enable you to customize the content that is automatically generated when a video is added to your Rewatch channel. Previously, all videos on Rewatch had the same AI-generated content: a summary recap and a list of action items. This provided a good foundation for most videos, but often left a lot of other questions unanswered.

Now, with AI Notes Templates, you can customize this AI content by creating templates of prompts – the questions or commands given to the AI – that will generate the exact type information your team needs to see. Best of all, you can use different templates for different types of videos, allowing you to specify the type of content that's generated for entire categories of videos.

Accessing AI Notes Templates

NOTE: Currently, every Rewatch user can use AI Notes Templates on their videos, but only channel administrators have the ability to create and edit templates.

To get your channel started, we have created a library of prompts and built an initial set of notes templates that correspond to the most common types of videos across Rewatch channels:

  • Meeting (default template)

  • Sales call

  • Customer check-in

  • User research interview

  • Job interview

  • Project team update

  • Company all-hands

Here's how to access your templates

  1. Navigate to the Notes Templates tab via the left-hand sidebar navigation

  2. Select a template to view the prompts included in each template

All AI Notes Templates are available for all members and guests of a channel to use – there are no "private" or "personal" templates available currently.

Customizing AI Notes Templates

The templates that have been created for you should be good enough to get your channel started, but over time you may want to make changes to better fit your team's needs.

NOTE: Making changes to a template does not automatically update the content for any previous videos that use the template. To update this content, head to the video, and regenerate the template.

Adding Core Prompts to a Template

There's no limit to the amount of prompts a template can have, although an extremely high number of prompts may result in longer content generation times. We have created a library of prompts – which we call "core prompts" – for your channel to use.

To add a core prompt to a template, you can:

  1. Navigate to the Notes Templates tab via the left-hand sidebar navigation

  2. Select the template you want to add a prompt to

  3. Click on the Add prompt button in the top-right

  4. Select the prompt(s) to add to your template

  5. Click Done

Adding Custom Prompts to a Template

NOTE: Custom prompts are only available to channels on a paid plan.

If there's a prompt you want to add that is not in our core prompt library, you can create your own. Here's how to create a custom prompt:

  1. Navigate to the Notes Templates tab via the left-hand sidebar navigation

  2. Select the template you want to add a prompt to

  3. Click on the Add prompt button in the top-right

  4. Click on Add custom prompt In the bottom-left corner of the pop-up

  5. Add your custom prompt's details: name, the output type (summary or timestamped list), and prompt content

  6. Click Save prompt

Once a custom prompt has been created, it becomes part of the channel's prompt library and able to be added to other templates.

Writing prompts typically require a bit of trial and error. We suggest keeping your prompts focused on a single goal, adding specific details about the response you're looking for, and testing your prompt by regenerating a video's template.

Changing the Visibility of a Prompt

By default, the content generated by each prompt is visible to anyone who can access the video. Within a template, you can change the visibility of a prompt so that only people on your team – the admins, members, and guests on your channel – will see it.

Here's how to to change a prompt's visibility:

  1. Navigate to the Notes Templates tab via the left-hand sidebar navigation

  2. Select the template that has the prompt you want to change the visibility of

  3. Click on the visibility button in the prompt. Depending on the setting, this will read either Visible to all or Internal only

  4. Choose the desired visibility setting from the dropdown menu.

Removing Prompts from a Template

When you'd like to remove a prompt from a template, you can:

  1. Navigate to the Notes Templates tab via the left-hand sidebar navigation

  2. Select the template that has the prompt you want to remove

  3. Click on the dotted menu button in the prompt and select Remove from template

Removing a prompt from a template does not delete the prompt from your channel's prompt library. Templates need to have at least one prompt, so you won't be able to remove the last prompt in a template.

Deleting a Custom Prompt

While you're unable to delete core prompts from your prompt library, you can permanently delete custom prompts. This will delete the prompt and remove it from all templates in which it appears.

Here's how to delete a custom prompt:

  1. Navigate to the Notes Templates tab via the left-hand sidebar navigation

  2. Select a template that has the custom prompt you want to delete

  3. Click on the dotted menu button in the custom prompt and select Delete

Creating a New Template

NOTE: Custom templates are only available to channels on a paid plan.

In addition to creating prompts and modifying existing templates, channel admins also have the ability to create new templates for their team.

Here's how to create a new template:

  1. Navigate to the Notes Templates tab via the left-hand sidebar navigation

  2. Click on the New template button in the top-right

  3. Enter a name and description of your template

Deleting a Template

When you'd like to delete a notes template, you can:

  1. Navigate to the Notes Templates tab via the left-hand sidebar navigation

  2. Select the template you wish to delete

  3. Click on the dotted menu in the top right and select Delete template

Any videos that currently use the deleted template will switch to the default template.

Changing Default Templates

Your channel's default template will be used to generate content for all videos that have not selected a different template to use. All channels initially use the Meetings template as their default.

Here's how to change the default template:

  1. Navigate to the Notes Templates tab via the left-hand sidebar navigation

  2. Select the template you wish to make default

  3. Click on the dotted menu in the top right and select Set as default

Note: Templates without any prompts cannot be the default template.
