Stay on top of new videos, comments, and highlights in your channel by connecting Rewatch to your Slack workspace.

NOTE: If the Rewatch app was installed to your Slack workspace before Sept 1st, 2023, a Slack workspace owner needs to approve and re-authorize the Rewatch app in order for members to use the updated version.

Connect your Slack Workspace to Rewatch

If you’re an Admin, you can use this link to connect Rewatch to your Slack workspace: https://rewatch.com/slack/install

(or follow the instructions below)

  1. Navigate to the ⚙️ Admin console at the bottom of the left-hand navigation.

  2. Click Integrations on the left-hand menu.

  3. Click Connect Slack for the Slack integration.

  4. Follow the instructions provided by Slack.

Configure your Slack Notifications

Once you've connected your Slack workspace, you can set up notifications for your entire Rewatch channel or for specific collections.

You can also customize your notification preferences for new videos, comments, and highlights.

PRO TIP: If you'd like to notify a private Slack channel, be sure to follow these instructions.

Set Up Slack Notifications for Specific Rewatch Collections

You can set up Slack notifications for specific collections and only notify your team in Slack when there are new videos or activity in those collections.

If you're a collection editor, here's how you can set up notifications for a specific collection:

  1. In Slack, navigate to the channel that you'd like to receive the notifications in.

  2. Type /Rewatch subscribe

  3. Use the provided search to select the collection or series you want updates from.

  4. Select if you'd like notifications for new videos, highlights, and/or comments.

Set Up Slack Notifications for All Rewatch Activity

If you’re an Admin of both Slack and Rewatch, here’s how you can set up Slack notifications for all activity across your Rewatch channel:

  1. In Slack, navigate to the channel that you'd like to receive the notifications in.

  2. Type /Rewatch subscribe all.

  3. Use the provided search to select the collection or series you want updates from.

  4. Select if you'd like notifications for new videos, highlights, and/or comments.

After channels are connected, if you'd like to view or edit the Slack channels that are receiving channel-wide notifications, you can visit the integrations page:

  1. Navigate to the ⚙️ Admin console at the bottom of the left-hand navigation.

  2. Click Integrations on the left-hand menu.

  3. Click Manage Settings for the Slack integration.

Set Up Slack Notifications for a Private Slack Channel

To set up notifications for a private Slack channel, add the Rewatch app directly to those channels.

NOTE: If you are not a Workspace Owner, you may need to request approval before the Rewatch app can be added to your Slack channel.

If you are an Admin, here's how to add the Rewatch app to a private Slack channel:

  1. In Slack, navigate to the Private channel that you'd like to receive the notifications in.

  2. Type @Rewatch

  3. Click Invite Them to add the Rewatch app to your channel.

You can now use the /Rewatch subscribe command to receive notifications from a collection or series.

Enable Rewatch Videos to Play in Slack

You can enable Rewatch videos to play in Slack, so your team can watch without having to leave your Slack workspace. When Slack embeds are enabled, only videos that have been published and are visible to your entire channel will be expanded.

NOTE: If you connected Slack prior to August 10, 2022, a Slack workspace owner needs to approve and re-authorize the Rewatch app

If you're an Admin, here's how you can enable Slack embeds for your channel:

  1. Navigate to the ⚙️ Admin console at the bottom of the left-hand navigation.

  2. Click on Permission settings on the left-hand menu.

  3. Scroll down to the section for Embedding videos.

  4. Find the options for embedding videos in Slack.

  5. Select the option to "Allow published videos to be embedded in Slack."

You can learn more about embedding videos on other sites in our Help Center!
