Rewatch integrates with Zoom to enable a handful of useful features:

  • Native recording: get the best quality recording from Zoom, with built-in recording consent and high-quality speaker-attribution.

  • Cloud recording import: one-click importing of historical meetings that have been recorded to Zoom's cloud — a great way to save on expensive Zoom storage.

  • Chat transcripts: capture any chat-based discussion from meetings, so it's part of the record in Rewatch.

In this doc, we'll walk through integrations options, and key features.

Connecting the team-wide integration

Only channel admins can connect their Zoom account for the entire channel. Once connected, no members will need to connect their user-specific accounts.

  • Open Admin console from the navigation

  • Select the Integrations tab from the admin console navigation

  • On this page, you'll see a list of all the team-wide integrations

  • Find Zoom in the list, and click the Get started button

  • Click the button to Connect on that page

  • Follow Zoom's instructions to finish connecting the integration for your team

Connecting the user-specific integration

Any channel member can connect their individual Zoom account to Rewatch.

  • Open the user options menu from the top-left corner of Rewatch

  • Select the Integrations option from that menu

  • On this page, you'll see a list of all the user-specific integrations

  • Find Zoom in the list, and click the Get started button

  • Click the button to Connect on that page

  • Follow Zoom's instructions to finish connecting the integration

Note: if the team-wide integration has already been enabled for your channel, you won't see the option to connect the user-specific integration.

Key features

Whether connecting for the entire team, or for specific users, you'll get access to a few key features.

Native recording

Zoom's native recording is the highest-quality you can get for a Zoom meeting, it includes speaker attribution, chat transcripts, and gives us the ability to create a more accurate transcript. Additionally, when using Zoom's native recording, you won't have to admit an additional participant to record the meeting, and you'll have all of Zoom's built-in recording consent features.

Cloud recording import

Any meetings that have been recorded to Zoom's cloud can be imported to Rewatch with a single click. Zoom's cloud storage can be costly, so importing to Rewatch can be a great way to cut costs. Here's how:

  • Click the Add video button in Rewatch's navigation

  • In the resulting modal, click the Zoom button

  • You'll see a listing of cloud recordings by month that you can page through

  • When you see a recording you'd like in Rewatch, just click Import

Chat transcripts

In many meetings, participants choose to participate in chat instead of via audio. With the Zoom integration, chat transcripts will be captured and stored in Rewatch so the full experience of a meeting remains accessible afterwards.

Only public chat messages will be captured, so any private messages between participants will remain fully private and off-the-record.

Ensure your Zoom settings allow capturing chat messages

If you want to capture chat messages from Zoom, a Zoom admin will need to ensure the cloud recording option has the right settings enabled:

  1. Log in to the web-based version of Zoom on your browser.

  2. Visit the Settings tab on the left-hand navigation, or click this link.

  3. Navigate to the Recording tab below the Search Settings bar.

  4. Under Cloud Recording, make sure the checkbox is enabled for "Save chat messages from the meeting / webinar."
